Notes to Mpeg Realtime Audio Player 1.b0
WARNING WARNING WARNING
This application might crash your Macintosh at any time. Therefore use
it with caution, especially when used in background save your foreground
work as often as possible.
Important Notes:
- The player is incompatible with Virtual Memory,
╩ and may play poorly with Ram Doubler
- It does not work on the 5200 (and probably not on the 6200/5300/6300)
╩ (see note below)
- On low-end PPCs, Sound Manager 3.1 is required.
- Shuffle does not work like normal CD players, it just picks a random
╩ songs, so a song might be picked twice in a row
- The player requires Sound Double Buffer Hardware, if it is not
╩ available on your Macintosh the player won't work
- Sound output MUST be set to 44Khz/16bit, else it won't play
- Certain applications (like ResEdit) seem to disturb the filemanager.
╩ If they are kept open in the background, playback may suddenly stop.
╩ (no crash though...)
Drag&Drop
You can drag files either into the list or directly onto the play-button
for immediate playback. Only files of type 'MPEG' are accepted.
If you drag files directly onto the application icon, all files are
accepted that have an ending .mpg or .mp2.
Note for PM 5200 Users:
It seems, that Apple put a 10 year old sound chip into those new
machines. They only support a minimal sound setup, and they don't
support sound double buffer playback. Although the 5200 is aimed
at the home/school market as a multimedia machine, Apple could
not afford to include a decent sound hardware. Feel free to contact
Apple about this...
